Polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic polymer of ethylene. It is a waxy mass of white color. Chemical - and frost-resistant, insensitive to impact (shock absorber), softens when heated (80-120°C), harden when cooled, the adhesion is extremely low
Polyethylene is produced in two fundamental ways (two types):
Low-density polyethylene – LDPE (910-925kg/m3) is produced at high pressure. Therefore, it is often called in Russian high-pressure polyethylene.
High density polyethylene – HDPE (941-965kg/m3), in Russian also called low pressure polyethylene. It has a fundamentally higher strength and stiffness, but slightly lower impact viscosity.
Polyethylene (except supermolecular) may be processed by all known for plastics methods, such as extrusion, extrusion inflating, injection molding, pneumatic molding.
Polyethylene is the most mass polymer in the production of packaging materials (films, bags, containers, cans, etc.). It is also used for the production of pipes, fibers, building materials, household items and much more.
